ASIMO Gets a Job at a Museum in Japan

In the past, ASIMO’s public performances have heavily monitored by humans and orchestrated by hidden operators. With the hope of rendering the robot more autonomous, Honda has partnered with Japan’s National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation to create an interactive presentation with their little humanoid robot.

There were some technical hiccups, and ASIMO had a hard time answering questions and interacting with the crowd. This was a bit disappointing to many since Honda’s previously choreographed presentations had created high expectations for their humanoids (arguably the most advanced in existence at the moment). However, ASIMO is expected to improve with time as his software is refined and further adapted to this new challenge.
