2045 Milestones
Dmitry Itskov, a Russian mogul, recently launched the “2045 Initiative“. His main goal is to promote the development of technology aimed at achieving immortality. As shown in the image above, the project has very ambitious milestones that can be arguably a bit too optimistic.
The initiative expects to be able to produce an android (humanoid robot with human appearance) by 2015 which could host and maintain a human brain after a person has died. The project then goes on to more ambitious goals of producing more advanced avatars which would make it possible to “backup” and augment the “human essence”. Although we would love to see such futuristic robots and computational power, it might be a bit hasty to consider transferring ones’ brain to a machine just two years in the future.
